Mr. Aldred handles patent law matters in various technology areas, including mechanical, electrical, chemical, and computer technologies with a focus towards helping his clients build, manage, and commercially exploit their intellectual property portfolios. 

Mr. Aldred has in-depth experience in patent prosecution matters, including drafting and prosecuting domestic, foreign and international patent applications; conducting interviews with examiners at the United States Patent and Trademark Office; and drafting and filing appeal briefs. He works with clients to develop customized prosecution strategies that help maximize the value and commercial meaningfulness of their patent portfolios.

Mr. Aldred's counseling further involves patentability, freedom to operate, validity and other intellectual property landscape analyses to provide clients with advice and data that can guide their business decisions.

Mr. Aldred also provides a full range of trademark portfolio planning services, including trademark filing and prosecution matters. He conducts trademark searches and advises on trademark clearance, selection, and enforcement in the United States.

Mr. Aldred has participated in trademark opposition proceedings, including conducting oral hearings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Aldred negotiates and prepares trademark assignments and trademark licensing programs, as well.
